DAHLIA BUNCHES! I am in full on garden clean up m DAHLIA BUNCHES!

I am in full on garden clean up mode so almost everything is coming out! But the dahlias are loving our current weather and producing well and will stay in the ground through frost!

I have some straight dahlias bunches available for pick up at LBB on Sunday or Monday or at Amplified on Monday. Check my stories as I have some eucalyptus and a mixed bouquet available as well.

Please DM if you want to snag something!
Welcoming the first day of fall with a beautiful b Welcoming the first day of fall with a beautiful bridal bouquet for Candace!

We wanted this bouquet to embrace fall without using saturated bright colours. Her favourite flowers are dahlias, especially big divas so we made sure to put a Breakout front and centre! The roses and lisianthus are putting on quite a show alongside the dahlias right now so they are heavily featured as well in creams, mauve and honey colours. The beautiful thing about fall bouquets are all the bits and bobs in the garden that can be added to give texture and interest.

It's been fun to show off the range of locally grown flowers in bridal bouquets through each of the seasons this year.

Wishing the couple a beautiful day today and happiness in the years to come!

Fall Farm Update The first day of fall arrives la Fall Farm Update

The first day of fall arrives later this week and this weekend will mark the final weekend of our fresh flower season.

I will be harvesting everything I can this week for our final wedding of the season and also the final Mixed Bouquets of 2023.

The dahlias will continue to bloom and dahlia bunches will be available until frost. We should have some pumpkins for Thanksgiving too!

Garden take down starts this weekend so we have time to prep beds, plant bulbs, get tunnels up and set up the winter growing space for the indoor tulips before the snow flies.

I usually hate tearing down beds before frost but as I continue to transition the majority of my growing to spring, it's really important I get beds prepped and tunnels up in the fall.

Watch for news on bouquets this weekend!

Sunshine for Nikki on her wedding day yesterday 💛. I loved working with this sunny palette to create something that had a country feel and elegance about it.
I was excited when Nikki told me she wanted to feature sunflowers in her bouquets as that isn't a common bridal request for me but they are a flower I love, especially in September!
The honey Dijon roses are putting on their final show of the season and they were an excellent elegant touch.
For me it's the season of "bits and bobs" and I love all the unique touches they bring to bouquets.
Hope it was a magical day for the happy couple!
Wow, it has been a week! Not going to lie, while a Wow, it has been a week! Not going to lie, while a mug of flowers is definitely good for the soul, my cup has been filled with a lot of coffee this week.
There has been some great flowering this week with a project Monday, a couple of special orders and wedding flowers today!
As I took a second to look over the flower field this evening in the Golden hour, I have to say it looked pretty amazing with sunflowers, dahlias, cosmos and dry grasses all dancing in the light - nothing like the golden hour in September 🧡
Next weekend will be the final wedding for 2023 and then garden taketown will begin regardless of the weather. The dahlias will stay through frost but I need to begin prepping for winter and spring 2024 and with the busyness of life I can't really keep up with what flowers I have right now. We had a bear come in the last couple of nights and strip our grapes and fruit trees and it even sat in a patch of celosia to feast on my son's favourite pears!! A few less flowers for me to cut haha.
We are off to a weekend of agriculture at a fall fair near and dear to our hearts this weekend and some of our flowers will be there too. Have a lovely fall weekend everyone!

A love affair with September... I find beauty in A love affair with September...

I find beauty in all the seasons and I look forward to each one for different reasons. I never wish summer away but if it needs to come to an end I am sure glad it falls into September.

For as long as I can remember I have loved September - the warmth of summer, the coziness of fall, the colours, the textures the feelings. It's always one of the busiest months, it brought me a baby brother one year and growing up school started, I was full on into sports and showing cattle all month long.

Now as a mom, it's back to school routines, configuring after-school activities and enjoying all the experiences those activities bring to my kids.

I love every moment I get in the gardens in September and trust me those moments are fleeting and not consistent.

I felt so lucky to be asked to work on a special project today. It's a collaboration with a few other local vendors including my husband @jeff_pisio and his beautiful pottery. I was able to use some of his newest crystalline glazed vases to create some floral pieces. I will be honest these pieces and this set were created in and amongst the chaos of a paddling regatta, late nights, a day of work and getting kids off to activities tonight but it was an opportunity I just couldn't pass up. I LOVE what was created and how it captures such an amazing month of the year. Looking forward to sharing the final product in the future.

Take some moments this week to stop and just notice September and breathe in the calm it can create in what at times can be a chaotic feeling month.
How did you do with the first week of September? How did you do with the first week of September?
It's always crazy for me that there is such a shift between the final week of August and the first week of September. I know fall technically doesn't arrive for a couple more weeks, but the days have really shortened, the mornings are cooler, fall activities have begun and the world just feels different.
I will be honest, the gardens haven't been top of my mind as we slide into this new schedule and the kids have gotten busy right away with their activities and I am navigatigating our new schedule and trying to make it all work.
Having said that though, harvesting is one of my favourite times of day in the fall. It's peaceful and it's my moment to just breathe in and enjoy the beauty that fall brings. While I don't have a lot in my fall gardens this year, I was still bringing in some gorgeous buckets of blooms this past week and I have a couple of really fun flower projects to share this coming week.
More paddling regatta tomorrow and then into a manic Monday that will also include some real flower magic!
Have a beautiful September Sunday everyone.
